Eclat: Milk Chocolate 33% Pennsylvania Dutch Pretzel Bar

I’m still traumatized from “Bad Chocolate Week.” I need something comforting. Something made close to home. Something classic.

Eclat's Pennsylvania Dutch Pretzel bar, made in nearby West Chester, PA, where I occasionally travel for work, fit the bill based on its origin of production and resemblance to tasty childhood treats.

Chocolate covered pretzels. In the form of a 33% cocoa milk chocolate bar. With a fancy foil wrapper depicting the journey of the bar’s ingredients.

Once I tore apart that foil map, I found a creamy aroma with hint of nuttiness highlighting the soft, creamy melt of the chocolate. This soft, smooth melt contrasts nicely with the crunchy bits of pretzels, which I was pleased to see were well-chopped and evenly distributed throughout the bar.

The chocolate is the dominant flavor in this bar, and is creamy with a bit of nuttiness. There is a bit of salt from the pretzels but it is not overwhelming and allows the chocolate flavors to shine through. The bar is quite well executed, with perfectly crisp pretzels and a wonderful balance of chocolate and salt.

And made just a few miles north on I-95. Perfect.

Have you had a chocolate bar with pretzel bits in it?
