German Chocolate Cake Frosting



1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter
1-1/3 cups coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Makes enough for a two-layer 8-inch cake.
  1. Combine sugar, milk, egg yolks, butter and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 12 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat; add coconut and pecans.
  3. Cool and stir occasionally until spreading consistency.

Vegan Chocolate Frosting

Vegan Chocolate Frosting Recipe

1 cup dark chocolate 73%
1/2 cup grapeseed oil
2 tablespoons agave nectar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
pinch celtic sea salt

1. In a small saucepan, over very low heat, melt chocolate and grapeseed oil.
2. Stir in agave, vanilla, and salt.
3. Place frosting in freezer for 15 minutes to chill and thicken.
4. Remove from freezer and whip frosting with a hand blender until it is thick and fluffy.
5. Frost cake or cupcakes or use between cookies.
